The early successes of Ricci as a child actor was due to her performance of Wednesday Addams on The Addams Family in 1991 as well as Addams Family Values in 1993. Also, she received appreciation for her role as Kat Harvey in Casper in 1995. Ricci changed roles to roles that were more adult-friendly with The Ice Storm (1997) followed by an acclaimed role in The Opposite of Sex (1998) in which she was awarded an Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. The success of her work continued through her performances on Sleepy Hollow (1998) and Monster (2003).
